Canadian Four-Man Crew Slide to 10th at World Cup Race in Konigssee

KONIGSSEE, Ger.—Canada’s four-man crew piloted by Justin Kripps, were searching for more in a 10th place finish in the final race before the holiday break in Konigssee, Germany on Sunday.

Justin Kripps, of Summerland, B.C., piloted his crew of Ben Coakwell (Saskatoon), Tim Randall (Toronto), and Josh Kirkpatrick (Calgary) to a time of 1:38.67. 

“Our pushes were a little slow and we made a couple of mistakes down the track,” said Stefan Bosch, head coach, Canadian Bobsleigh Team. “It wasn’t a horrible run, but we are after more out here. When you are a tenth behind in the push and make little mistakes going down the track, it eventually catches up to you and you are going to fall back.” 

Germany’s Nico Walther, Marko Huebenecker, Gregor Bermbach and Eric Franke won their first World Cup four-man title with a time of 1:37.57. Maximillian Arndt, Kevin Kuske, Martin Putze and Kevin Korona settled for the silver at 1:37.75. Switzerland’s Rico Peter, Thomas Amrhein, Janne Bror van der Zijde slid onto the bronze-medal step of the podium at 1:37.95.

The Canadians will now travel back home for the holiday break.
