Sébastien is in his first season on the National Skeleton Program. He was encouraged by his sprint coach at the University of Manitoba – who used to assist sliding sport athletes in Great Britain – to give skeleton a try after completing his five years of university eligibility as a varsity track and field athlete. He took time out of a track meet in Calgary to meet National Team coaches and have his first push session in the Ice House in June 2023. He quickly picked up how to push a sled, and tied the National start record (4.61) in his second push camp.

Sébastien is a standout athlete. He was drafted to the Canadian Track and Field League where he toured and competed for the Arctics across Canada.

He is also a high performer in the classroom. Sébastien received his B.Sc. at the University of Manitoba with a major in biology. He was then accepted to the University of Manitoba masters of physiotherapy program, but decided to forego this path, and commit his time to chasing a new Olympic dream in skeleton and continue his sport journey. In his spare time, he loves playing guitar – acoustic and electric – and when he is home, he spends as much time as he can with his dog Téa.

Did You Know… Sébastien has a lip tattoo that says “Cheers”. He loves his crocs and his hero is his little brother Sacha. They’ve been friends for life and share many memories together. Sacha faced more adversity in his life than most people know, and it is his ability to overcome those challenges that has often inspired Sébastien to give his best effort no matter the situation.
