BMW IBSF World Championships 2020

2-woman heats 3 & 4 // 2-man heats 1 & 2

Christine de Bruin and Kristen Bujnowski finish the 2019/20 BMW IBSF World Championship with a bronze medal!

Christine is the second Canadian woman pilot to ever have won a World Championship medal, and Christine and Kristen teamed up for their second World Championship medal in a row.

This caps off a strong season with a Crystal Globe for World Cup Overall third, confirming that this team are medal threats at every race.

Starting today in 5th place, after some exciting and unpredictable racing yesterday, the Canadian duo knew they needed two good runs to be in for a fighting chance on the podium.

After an incredible third run they moved into fourth place just .02 out of the medals, and pushed their way onto the podium to finish in third place!

“It is pretty surreal right now,” added Bujnowski after crossing the finish line. “It could have gone either way. There is lots of tough competition but to come out of this with a medal is amazing.”

Earlier on in the day Kripps and Stones took to the Altenberg track for the first time this competition tying for 6th in the first heat and finishing the day after two runs in 9th place. Last season this Canadian duo took World Championship Silver in Whistler.

Stay tuned tomorrow to see if they can move their way up the leaderboard onto the podium.

Kripps and Stones will be back on the ice at 8:30am EST / 6:30am MST, as we see Kripps competing in his sixth World Championship.
