Canada Ready to Welcome the World in Whistler for 2019 BMW IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships

Media invited to official training starting February 27, racing begins March 1

WHISTLER, B.C.—The world’s fastest athletes on ice will slide into Whistler, B.C. as Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton will host the BMW IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships on the west coast for the first time ever, February 25 – March 10.

More than 250 athletes, representing more than 35 countries, will battle it out for the title of king and queen of bobsleigh and skeleton in the most prestigious event on the international calendar in a non-Olympic year.

Media are invited to official training beginning on February 27. World Championship racing begins on March 1 with the first two of four heats in the men’s two-man bobsleigh competition. The women’s bobsleigh World Championships will begin on March 2.

The action-packed event will feature nightly entertainment, local food options, beer gardens and other amazing activities for the whole family to enjoy! Be trackside to check out these athletes who will reach speeds up to 150km/hour will sliding down the high-banked corners of the world-renowned Whistler Sliding Centre.

credentials for the 2019 BMW IBSF Bobsleigh & Skeleton World Championships. Media can pick up

accreditation in the Media Centre at the Whistler Sliding Centre during the World Championships.
