Three of Canada’s top Bobsleigh Athletes to Compete in America’s Cup in Calgary
CALGARY—Threeof Canada’s top bobsleigh athletes, including Olympic medallists Helen Uppertonand Lyndon Rush, will compete in the FIBT Bobsleigh and Skeleton America’s Cupraces at Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park, November 17-20, 2011.
Whilethe next generation of World Cup skeleton athletes will kick the week’scompetition off on Thursday, November 17 at 1 p.m., Rush and Upperton will bejoined by fellow World Cup teammate, Chris Spring, in the men’s and women’stwo-man races on Thursday and Friday.
TheAmerica’s Cup is the premiere development-level circuit held in North America.Therewill be 150 athletes representing 15 nations, including 35 Canadian sliders,rallying for their move up the rankings, which determines starting positionsand seedings at FIBT races around the world, and the ultimate goal of beingchosen for the World Cup team and major championships.
