Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse to carry the flag for Canada in Closing Ceremony

SOCHI, RUSSIA – At a closing press conference today, theCanadian Olympic Committee announced that Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moysehave been selected as Canada’s flag bearers for the Closing Ceremony of theSochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The event will take place in Sochi’s FishtOlympic Stadium.
“This has been such a great Games for Canada and leading the team into theClosing Ceremony is the cherry on top of a fantastic couple of weeks. I am sohonoured,? said Kaillie Humphries, two-time Olympic gold medallist.
“This is such an amazing privilege. I will carry the flag with the upmost prideand patriotism, on behalf of all Canadians,? added Heather Moyse, two-timeOlympic gold medallist.
Humphries and Moyse successfully defended their Vancouver 2010 Olympic goldmedal in women’s bobsleigh by coming from behind in the last two of four runson the Sochi track.
The Canadian Olympic Team has won 25 medals (9 gold, 10 silver, 5 bronze),including a yet to be determined medal in men’s hockey team who play for goldtoday against Sweden at the Bolshoy Arena in Olympic Park.

Leading into these Games, we talkedabout how we wanted our Canadian athletes to compete well against the world’sbest and contend for the number one spot in overall medals won,” said StevePodborski, Canada’s Chef de Mission. “Given the intensity and passion ourCanadians showed on the field of play, we are proud of the team’s tremendousperformance.”

The 2016 Olympic Summer Games will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, whilethe next Olympic Winter Games will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018.
