– Encourages Canada’s Summer Athletes to Git’er Done, Inspires Canadians to Continue Support

Calgary, Alberta – Proud Canadian athlete, Olympic Champion and Canada’s most famous drinker-of-celebratory-beer pitchers has released a new online video to encourage Canada’s summer athletes and inspire Canadians to get behind them.

“I really believe that as Canadian athletes, we’re all in this together,” said Jon. “There’s a growing camaraderie between winter and summer athletes and I wanted to let them know that we’re all behind them, it’s their turn now to git’er done!”

In the spirit of Canadian slam poet Shane Koyczan and the popular “Joe Canada” rant, Jon Montgomery reflects on the Olympic Games experience that gave him the opportunity to compete for Canada and a chance to hear the National Anthem after his stirring gold-medal win in skeleton.

He’s also hoping the short video will inspire Canadians to support our summer athletes in the same way they rallied behind Canada’s winter athletes leading into and coming out of the Games in Vancouver 2010. The video also includes the Canadian Olympic Committee's #GiveYourEverything to support the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team.

“As amateur athletes, we train in anonymity for years before we get our opportunity to show Canada what we can do. And, I’d like to inspire Canadians to get behind their summer athletes the same way they rallied behind winter athletes in Vancouver 2010,” Jon commented about the tremendous overflow of encouragement he’s received from Canadians over the past two years.

That support continued throughout this video project.

Filmed at the Riddell Family Theater in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary, all of the production services related to the video – writing, direction and editing – were donated by a local crew lead by producer Josh Wong and director Marcus Fryia.

“The crew was awesome! This was an artistic project that really required these guys to believe in it and make it real. It’s a testament to how much sport means to so many Canadians,” said Jon.

The video is available online at and on YouTube (Jon “Canadian” Montgomery: Good Luck and Git’er Done in London 2012) for a limited time.
