Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse Finish Fourth at Bobsleigh World Cup in Austria

IGLS, Aut.—Canada’s Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse placed fourth in women’s bobsleigh at a World Cup in Igls, Austria on Sunday.

Kaillie Humphries finished off the podium for just the third time in the last 18 World Cup races while piloting the top Canadian sled. Humphries and Moyse posted the fourth quickest combined time of 1:46.73.

The Americans grabbed the first two spots on the women’s podium. Lauryn Williams and Jamie Greubel finished on top at 1:46.28. Aja Evans and Elana Meyers were second after clocking-in at 1:46.41. Germany’s Anja Schneiderheinze and her brakeman, Stephanie Schneider rounded out the women’s podium with a two-run time of 1:46.42

Edmonton’s Jenny Ciochetti and Chelsea Valois, of Zenon Park, Sask., placed 15th with a time of 1:48.09.

Later in the day, Chris Spring and his four-man crew posted the fifth-fastest time.

Calgary’s Spring and his team of Jesse Lumsden, of Burlington, Ont., Ottawa’s Cody Sorensen, and Saskatoon’s Ben Coakwell posted a time of 1:42.60.

Latvia’s Oskars Melbardis, Daumants Dreiskens, Arvis Vilkaste and Janis Strenga blasted to the gold medal with a tiem of 1:42.22. The reigning Olympic gold medallists, Steven Holcomb, Curtis Tomasevicz, Steven Langton and Chris Fogt, slid to the silver at 1:42.33, while Germany’s Thomas Florschuetz, Joshua Bluhm, Kevin Kuske and Christian Poser placed third at 1:42.43.

Justin Kripps, of Summerland, B.C., and his team of James McNaughton, of Newmarket, Ont., Toronto’s Tim Randall and Edmonton’s Bryan Barnett were 12th (1:42.78).

Canada’s Lyndon Rush (Humboldt, Sask.), Calgary’s Lascelles Brown and Edmonton’s Dave Bissett and Neville Wright, were 13th (1:42.87).
