Canada’s Bobsleigh and Skeleton Athletes to Compete in Visa Canadian Championships at Canada Olympic Park

CALGARY—Canada’s medal-winning bobsleigh and skeleton athletes will hit the ice for the Visa Canadian Championships, November 5-6, 2010, at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
The Canadian Championships, which will officially kick off the 2010 competitive season for Canada’s sliding sport athletes, will include the nation’s top male and female athletes racing head-to-head down their home track on the western edge of Calgary at Winsport’s Canada Olympic Park.
Athletes will take two trips down the track in their quest to secure the national title. Women’s bobsleigh and men’s two-man will hit the ice November 5 at 8 p.m. The nation’s top skeleton athletes will compete on November 6 at 3 p.m., while the men’s four-man bobsleigh race will run at 7 p.m.
The race will also be used as part of the selection process that Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton will use to determine what athletes will represent Canada on the 2010 World Cup circuit which opens November 23-28 in Whistler, B.C.
The world’s top bobsleigh and skeleton athletes will slide back to Calgary for their first World Cup on the 1988 Olympic track in two years, November 29 – December 4, 2010.
