The InterContinental Cup is a series of international skeleton events that happen in Europe and North America and are focused on a nation’s National B Team athletes. This series of 8 events per year is the final stepping-stone for National team skeleton athletes before they participate of the World Cup circuit.
The InterContinental Cup circuit was developed and is sanctioned by the international federation for Bobsleigh and Skeleton, the FIBT. The circuit was created to offer a greater opportunity for developing skeleton athletes to compete on all world tracks at a higher level of competition as well as accommodating the increased number of high-level skeleton athletes from around the world.
Each event lasts five days, and is comprised of 3 days of training and 3 days of competition. Last year an average of 80 athletes and coaches were in attendance for each competition. Both the European and North America competitions have widespread representation from the majority of the 23 nations that compete at the World level in skeleton.
